Throughout art history, artists have been creating self portraits, or what we like to call “selfies” today. Artists often use paint, pencil, or even clay to express who they are and what they are passionate about. At ART Elements, we want to inspire everyone to ditch their phone or camera, and create their own Selfie Portrait. We will be giving an art supply basket to each of the age categories participating.
HOW TO DO A SELFIE PORTRAIT

There is no wrong way to do a self portrait.
Be creative. Add your favorite furry friends. Frida Kahlo added her pet monkeys and favorite bird reptile species. Vincent Van Gogh (right image) painted himself with paints and paint brushes.
Accessorize. What clothing or accessories say, "that's me!" Whether it is a tiara, baseball hat, or your favorite pair of earrings, add them. Those little additions help to make your selfie portrait a truer you.
Put yourself in your own world. What does the world you want to live in look like? Are you deep in the jungle, high up in the clouds, or surrounded by your loved ones?
All are welcome to participate in this fun ART project. For ages 3 - 16, ART Elements will be have four art supply baskets to give away to four age categories that will be given away during December 4th Newberg First Friday Artwalk.
