"My studio walls are covered in grasses. They illustrate an unbroken cycle of life, pushing through the soil to grow and die and begin again. This is the time of year I particularly enjoy, when the fields quickly change color and texture. I continue to paint “the long walk,” but I’ve also brought in other images from travels around the state; scattered places that beckon or summon me with offerings of peace and melancholy reminiscence.
I dedicate this show to my mother, Hazel M. Higginson
