Sarah Joy Silva

Watercolor Painter
Sarah Joy Silva is a classical watercolorist known for her charming miniature landscape paintings. With a deep love for nature and a thoughtful eye for its quiet details, Sarah brings each painting to life with sensitivity and a sense of peacefulness.
Sarah enjoys exploring the trails and landscapes of the Willamette Valley and the broader expanse of the Pacific Northwest, studying the light and color of the ever-changing scenery and gathering inspiration for her paintings. In her spare time, she enjoys reading classic novels, needle felting wool animals, and baking. She lives with her husband in a quaint old bungalow on the outskirts of Beaverton, Oregon, where she keeps her art studio tucked away in the depths of a somewhat mysterious basement.
I’ve long been inspired by the scenes of nature that surrounded me throughout my childhood. Growing up in the country, I experienced beauty on every scale, from vast, majestic sunsets to the intricate delicacy of a lacewing insect. Through those experiences, I developed a deep love for the complex beauty found in the natural world.
During my time as a graduate student in Art Therapy, I began painting tiny watercolor scenes, adding an encouraging quotation to the back, and leaving them for people to find at the coffee shops I was studying in. That simple practice deepened my desire to create art that could be a source of encouragement and hope for others.
Making tiny art reminds me that even the smallest things can bring joy. I hope my little paintings can somehow bring light and grace to those who encounter them.
