Featuring abstract paintings by Ted Olson as well as ceramic sculptures and oil paintings by Liisa Rahkonen.

On Display March 25th - May 31st 2025

Artist talk and reception on Saturday, April 5th 2pm - 4pm

Art Elements Gallery presents “Beneath the Surface”, an exhibition featuring two Pacific Northwest artists, Liisa Rahkonen and Ted Olson. Through abstraction, Ted’s landscapes aim to reveal the subtle beauty that lies beneath the fierce climates of the Pacific Northwest, suggesting a quiet contemplation that awaits beneath the surface of its untamed wilderness. Expertly paired with Liisa’s playful depictions of birds, her work explores the physical differences between us and our winged companions, while simultaneously highlighting the soulful similarities that connect us. With a masterful use of materials, both artists offer a refreshing perspective on the connection between humanity and the biosphere. Please visit Art Elements Gallery to experience “Beneath the Surface” today and consider the connections that you have forged with the land and animals of the Pacific Northwest.

Featuring oil paintings by Suzanne Vaughan and fused glass by Vicki Green

October 22nd – December 28th, 2024

Opening reception Saturday, November 9th from 2-4pm

In our latest exhibition “Contours of Energy”, we bring together two local artists who refine the vibrancy of nature through creative use of form and space. Focusing on contours and color, Suzanne paints a vision of our landscape that softens distinctions between rivers, horizons, and skies. In fused glass, Vicki’s interpretation of the natural world is told through her evolving experimentation with geometric forms. Step into these artists’ creation, a world where the lines between “abstract” and “landscape” have been blurred to create a fresh and energetic viewpoint.

Artist Reception Saturday, August 24th from 2-4pm

In this exhibition, two iconic Oregon artists portray the lively spirits of the local flora and fauna. VITIS VINIFERA

Featuring abstract paintings by James Frey

June 4th - August 10th , 2024

Reception on Saturday, June 22nd, from 2-4 pm

Following the Fall grape harvest each year, the vineyard goes dormant, and the vines begin to store energy for the winter months. The potential of the next vintage lies buried deep within the grapevine until the ground slowly begins to warm in the Spring.  After long months of no activity, this latent vitality explodes from the vine as buds break from their winter sleep and a new vintage bursts forth.

Winemaker and painter James Frey captured this explosion of energy from the vine in his new series, Vitis Vinifera.  To the naked eye, the Springtime bud break produces simple yellow-green leaves and tiny pink clusters; but to the eye of a winemaker this metamorphosis represents a wild kaleidoscope of colors as the complex and wonderful potential of a new vintage finds a beginning.
